Tell us how you first met? who what when where why? give us the dirty details.
Amos and I met shortly after I moved to Miami from Trinidad. One of my friends from medical school was in town, and he happened to be one of Amos' closest childhood friends. Amos brought him to visit me and je in We soon found out that our parents had grown up together, that we had the same circle of friends and our that homes in Trinidad were just minutes apart. Yet we never happened to meet until that point in time.
Alexandra & I were introduced by a mutual friend who happened to be visiting me shortly after Alex had moved to Miami. We spent the weekend going to different places and beaches around Miami. The following week we went on a series of dates and became official shortly after.
When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did? etc.
There was one week early in our relationship when Amos literally did something special for me every single day. It was so romantic, and being with him felt so natural and comfortable - it was as if I had known him for my whole life! The actual moment I knew though, was when he asked me to go to church with him. Our personalities are so different, but yet we share many common interests. At that point, I could see him fitting into every aspect of my life effortlessly and happily.
Apart from realizing that we had a lot in common, I saw that she was so beautiful, inside and out, but also the most humble and caring woman I've ever met. She really stood out from anyone else I had ever met. One of the first times we were driving around I remember her being ecstatic about the soca music I was playing in the car! In my head I thought l, she has beauty, brains, and is also fun loving. At that point, I knew she had to be mine.
Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
I had no idea!!!! It definitely was a complete surprise. It was our third anniversary and I had just come off a 24-hour shift, but Amos made dinner reservations for that evening. I should have known something was up when I saw him wearing a jacket to dinner lol, but I just thought we were going to a fancy place. We went to a rooftop restaurant in Miami beach opposite the place where we had our first date. After dinner, he went down on one knee, in front of a gorgeous scenic backdrop at sunset and asked me to marry him. I had no idea he arranged everything with the waitress, who was taking photos and capturing the moment. I was so overwhelmed and excited, that I cried through the whole thing! Of course, I said yes! He definitely is one romantic guy.
I had already purchased the engagement ring but was looking for just the right time to pop the question. Our 3 year anniversary was approaching on the 21st of July so I set out to find a location that would be memorable. I decided on a rooftop restaurant overlooking the beach. It just so happens that the restaurant was to constructed above the area we had our first date so there was a sentimental value to that particular location. I made reservations and disclosed my intentions to propose to the staff so they were able to seat is at a prime location with a breathtaking view. I was extremely nervous about what to say, how it would play out & even the weather that day. Despite there being a 30% chance of rain, there was none. Everything went smoothly and it turned out even better than I could have imagined. She was completely surprised and we were both overcome with joy that neither of us had realized that the entire restaurant was cheering for us!
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
I love how he smells! I can honestly smell him all day... and I do lol. Seriously, though he's such a gentleman. He always puts the needs of others before his, and will not hesitate to go out of his way to help anyone he meets.
Her selfless compassion.
If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.
He can fall asleep on command... in a sitting position, maybe even standing, and can sleep through anything!
She always manages to work my nicknames into any song that's playing on the radio.
Besides getting married - what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Having all our friends, family and loved ones from around the world together in one place.
I was most looking forward to completing our choreographed first dance smoothly and having fun.
